See the Dachau Concentration Camp Memorial Site on this guided, 6.5-hour tour from Munich. At the Memorial Site, join a guided tour and then spend 1.5 hours exploring the area and the museum independently. Afterward, head to the former SS Shooting Range Hebertshausen before returning to Munich.Description
Driving through the village of Dachau, you will reach the site of the former concentration camp. Built in 1933, Dachau was the first Nazi concentration camp and it is believed to have "processed" over 200,000 prisoners of World War II.
The main hall houses photographs and models of the camps, and gives you an insight into the horrendous acts against humanity that were often performed at the camp. In the grounds surrounding the main hall, you will find the crematorium, reconstructed bunkers, and a disguised gas chamber.
After a guided tour, you will have plenty of time to explore the memorial site on your own, visit the museum, and view the documentary film shown in the main hall. Highlights
Then head to the SS Shooting Range Hebertshausen, a 5-minute drive from the Memorial Site, where you can see the exhibits and learn more about the history of the area.
Your tour will conclude afterward with transportation back to Munich.
Please note that it's best to bring your own lunch or eat during your free time at the cafeteria. Please also be advised that this tour requires a lot of walking and is not easily wheelchair accessible.
