When you arrive in the Cadiz port, experience the culture and beauty of southern Spain on a shore excursion with wine tasting. During this small-group walking tour, explore the historical city and visit the main districts, squares and monuments. Go up to one of the highest points in the city, the Tavira Tower, where you’ll enjoy a 360-degree view of Cadiz. Then watch a spectacular live performance of Flamenco dancing while enjoying a wine tasting of Spanish wines, including sherry!
While you are in port in Cadiz, spend your time discovering the best of this Andalusian town. Meet your local guide outside the port and walk to the Tavira Tower (Torre Tavira), one of the highest points in the city. From here, enjoy a 360-degree view of Cadiz.
Continue to Plaza Sevilla and stop at the Puerta de Tierra, a marble military fortification from the 18th century. Walk in the footsteps of Flamenco dancers in the Santa Maria district, Cadiz’s oldest quarter, believed to be the birthplace of Flamenco! Then visit the Church of San Juan de Dios and the Cathedral of Cadiz, built in 1722. The cathedral is part of the Spanish Heritage Register (Bien de Interés Cultural), and its crypt is the final resting place of the famous composer Manuel de Falla, born in Cadiz.
Then head to the Flower Market, and walk past the Teatro Falla and Canastas Square on your way to the district of La Vina, home to Cadiz's carnival. Walk past La Caleta beach, the most popular beach in the city, and marvel at San Sebastian and Santa Catalina castles. Then explore Genoves Park, a beautiful open green space where you can relax and admire the many varieties of trees, before walking along the Alameda and through several city squares, like San Francisco and La Candelaria.
End your walking tour in one of the oldest Flamenco venues in Cadiz, where you’ll enjoy a private Flamenco performance. As you watch the beautiful dancing, sample four glasses of the finest wines of the region, including Jerez (a local sherry).
