Sun,
beaches and history The
island of Kos, home to Hippocrates (the father of medicine), who lived here more
than 2,300 years ago, is a tropical beauty with endless beaches inhabited by warm,
welcoming people. Situated in the Aegean Sea, Kos is the third largest of
the Dodecanese Islands.
During
the peak season in July and August, Kos is first and foremost a playground and
party site for young people. At this time of year, the nights are long and full
of life, but when the summer draws to a close, Kos shows itself in a calmer light,
inviting you to explore the islands beautiful nature or take in stunning
views from the harbour all through the autumn months.
During
the day, you can enjoy the enticing sandy beaches where families, young people,
and lovers of Greece and history gather. When the sun sets, people meet in the
many restaurants and taverns on the harbour to indulge in authentic Greek cuisine.
But
Kos has much more to offer than sun and parties. A tour of the island will take
you past many monuments dating from antiquity to our time: The Terrace of Asklipion,
Caracellas Triumphal Arch, the Temple of Dionysos, the Odeon Theatre and
St Johns Baronial Castle are just some examples of the historic sights you
can treat yourself to on Kos.
Visitors
of all ages always feel at home and the people of Kos are known for sharing their
generosity and warmth.
