By
far the most famous event in the city, the annual carnival consists of three events:
the childrens carnival (known as Børnekarneval), the battle of carnival
bands, and the carnival itself. The childrens carnival is central to children
fun, with performances and activities for children. The battle of carnival bands
is a fun evening with processions through the city when all the participating
groups compete to be the leading carnival group. Finally, the carnival itself
is on a Saturday when the spring spirit shows all day.

in squares and open places and many different music venues.
