that swept away the past and set the stage for the radically experimental art
of the 20th century.
And today, the tradition lives.
The art museums and theatres in Vienna are tops in the world. And in the new Donaustadt,
a modern business and shopping complex has grown around the United Nations center.
During the summer, the Donaustadt also has several
grassy spots for bathing and sailboat watching along the Alte Donau (old Danube).
During the winter, Vienna is a great launch point for the excellent Austrian ski
mountains. And any time of the year, Vienna is an excellent getaway destination.
