Alicante is known for its spectacular beaches. With warm, pleasant weather year-round, it is the prefect sun-lovers vacation spot. No matter what type of beach you enjoy, secluded or bustling, Alicante has what you are looking for. Water sports of all kinds are also very popular in Alicante.
Beaches
La Playa de San Juan
La Playa de San Juan is a gorgeous open beach, almost 7 kilometers long. The beaches in Alicante are typically covered in golden sand, and are busy all year round. A road runs along the entire beach making it easily accessibile.
El Postiguet
El Postiguet is located at the base of Mount Benacantil, and is a lovely metropolitan beach. Next to the port and right in the city, El Postiguet is one of several beaches that are very easy to access. It is also a sand covered beach.
El Saladar and Los Judios
These are two nudist beaches in Alicante. Clothing is optional, and because of that it is very secluded.
Scuba Diving and Snorkeling
Isla de Tabarca is a scuba driver’s paradise. Once a hideaway for pirates, the crystalline waters are now part of a marine reserve which offers spectacular snorkeling as well. To access this natural utopia there are several boat trips daily from the mainland. Isla de Tabarca is a must-see on any trip to Alicante.
Sailing
Sailing is a popular tourist pastime in Alicante. There are several sailing clubs, most notably the Real Club Náutico de Regata, and the Alicante-Costa Blanca Nautical Club. These sailing clubs have over 800 moorings.
Sports Facilities
If you like to remain active, Alicante has several sports facilities offering many types of activities. Everything from football to swimming pools, golf to horseback riding. Alicante’s sports centers will keep you busy.
