This is the ideal trip for those who prefer an in-depth Western Europe experience. Enjoy a special treat—a ride to the second floor of the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Also included are overnight stays in Amsterdam, with an included canal cruise, the best way to see the 17th-century capital of Holland; in Coblenz in Germany, with a romantic Rhine Cruise; in Munich, where a dinner at a local restaurant to taste the Bavarian atmosphere is included; in Innsbruck, Tyrol’s capital; in picture-book Lucerne, with time to climb a mountain or attend a folklore party; and in the Black Forest. Day 4   Amsterdam–Coblenz, Germany. Enjoy a CANAL CRUISE aboard a glass-roofed launch, which is the best way to get a good impression of how this city was built and how much still remains from the Golden Age. Depart for Coblenz, the German city where the Rhine and Moselle Rivers come together. An optional excursion to an impressive Rhine castle is available. (B,D)

Day 5   Coblenz–Munich. Start this morning with a romantic RHINE CRUISE past castle-crested cliffs, terraced vineyards, and trim, half-timbered towns. Next, leave the Rhineland and enter Bavaria for your overnight stay in its capital, Munich. See the Olympic Park and the 1,000-foot-high Television Tower. This evening, visit MARIENPLATZ and enjoy dinner at a local restaurant. (B,D)

During your walking tour, admire Thorwaldsen’s LION MONUMENT and the ornate patrician houses lining the cobblestone streets of the walled Old Town, then cross the famous covered CHAPEL BRIDGE to the Jesuit Church. Afterwards, shop for Swiss watches and this evening you may wish to join a folklore party with yodeling and alphorn blowing. (B)

Day 10   Lucerne–Black Forest, Germany. Time this morning to choose from our optional activities: climb a mountain by cable car or take a cruise on the fjord-like lake. Then, turn north, re-enter Germany, and enter lush valleys and pine-clad hills of the Black Forest, renowned for its cuckoo clocks. (B,D)
